Q Where is Cadets?
A 206 ACU is located at Marist College North Shore, 270 Miller St, North Sydney. Click here for a map.

Q How old do I have to be to join cadets?
A Cadets is open to both boys and girls aged between 12.5 - 18yr. This refers to the age you are when you join the unit.

Q What time is Cadets?
A Cadets is held every Tuesday during school term from 5:30pm - 8:40pm. Cadet Command Team members remain after for a Command Group meeting with officers till 9.15pm.

Q How do I join Cadets?
A We have 2 new recruit intakes per year (February and August). Our next will be on Tue 15 Feb 2011. You don't need to go to Marist to join 206 ACU. You can download our open night brochure by clicking here. You can also email us (206acu@tpg.com.au) and we will answer any questions you may have. Watch the home page of this website for more updates on the next intake.

Q When do you hold camps?
A We stage a 2-day weekend bivouac every term (March, June, September & November) and a 8-day Annual Camp every year during the October school holidays at Singleton Army Base. From time to time the unit will run voluntary extra training courses or activities. 

We also stage voluntary Boating & Roping Camps throughout the year for senior cadets.

Q What is my annual commitment to cadets?
A Commitment and dedication to service are two of the fine values you will learn during your involvement in cadets. While a member of 206 ACU you will be expected to attend: 
  • Tue parade nights during school term (platoon training - weekly)
  • 4x weekend bivouacs (field training - 1 per term) 
  • 7-day annual camp at Singleton in October holidays (field training - annually) 

Q What happens at Cadets?
A Every Tuesday parade night is split up into 3 instructional periods, approx. 40-mins each. During these instructional periods cadets are taught all of their basic skills such as survival, first aid, drill, navigation, radio communications, physical fitness, fieldcraft, ceremonial parades and heaps more. Camps are where we put our practical skills to use.

Q How much does it cost to join Cadets?
A There is a $75 one-off joining fee, $20 for an official company t-shirt plus a fully refundable $150 kit deposit (total $245). You get your deposit back in full when you return all your issued gear.

Q What if I cant make it to a compulsory unit parade or camp?
A Official leave will be granted from compulsory unit activities under special circumstances such as illness or exams.
